Like present-day banknotes, the photographs in this exhibit are encrypted with hidden identifiers, visible only under a UV light source. The hidden messages turn on by a viewer’s interaction (pressing an emergency button or brass doorbell, stepping on a small rug or passing through an infrared beam.)
