Quarantine, photographed between 2020 and 2022, will be used as the source material for a time and interactive based installation. The photographs and films center around politics, cooking, travel and mortality. The installation, which will be exhibited at The Butler Institute of American Art in early 2024, blends political issues with personal experience through triggered time-based media.
The original premise, a series of short stories each consisting of still and motion photographs of simultaneous settings, was created to occupy time during the early stages of the 2020 home confinement. From the home confinement, two chapters of Quarantine were produced, The Briefing and Recipes for Disaster. For a year, our daily lives were constructed around politics and culinary arts.
At the start of 2021 we ventured out on a cross-country adventure to survey the corrosive political landscape and view the majestic western landscapes. These travels produced the third phase of Quarantine, Continental Divide. Continental Divide continued production in a second 2022 cross-country trip.
